Maine

We have temporarily relocated quarantine to one of my favorite spots on Earth, Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park in Maine; we have spent the last few days with my parents and will visit my brother and sister and their families on this excursion, which will take us to another of the most important places in my life; Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It has been a long time since we’ve been able to see any of them and we’ve missed them dearly! Hugging my mom and dad was so comforting and felt like a taste of normalcy in this isolated world; running around with their cousins will be a deeply anticipated joy for Ivy and Miles. We are still in the teeth of this virus but with caution and respect for unfolding regulations and scientific analysis, it seems that relatively safe interactions can occur with like-minded families and friends in certain settings. Many of our plans have been scuttled this summer but we will do our best to safely, considerately and respectfully enjoy some of the places we love to visit every year. Activity and travel options may be limited but returning to places laced with nostalgia are emotional sustenance and feel like resuscitation from a remote and unfamiliar world.
